Overview of the many weeks gone by!!!

I have been neglecting the blog for a few weeks now, however, this is my way of catching up with all the information I have missed out about the work already on here. These are some of the notes I have written over the weeks:
Week 1 26/9/16
A fantastic start to university. I was tasked with drawing my class mates faces using different techniques and media. These included using my left hand for some, not looking at the page at all for others, and to use pen or pencil. The drawings turned out really well in the end. My only issue is that some of them don't necessarily  look like the person I was drawing, so this will need to be improved. I also wish that I managed to draw more different people in the group. Overall, the task was really fun and was a great way to get to know everyone in the group.
week 2 3/10/16
Today was very fun. We were tasked with drawing a naked life model who would pose in different positions for us to capture on a1 sheets. Throughout the task I kept with using my hb pencil. For my first time doing a drawing from life activity with an actual person, it was rather fun and my pieces turned out rather well in my opinion. Some of the drawings did manage to look much like the model, and capture the poses rather accurately. However, my other pieces could do with improvement. For example, some of the sketches are extremely light, which is due to my hb pencil being very blunt and thin. The other just weren't completed In time. These can all be solved though the more I do it.
week 3/ 10/10/16
Today we drew the life model again to my surprise
week 4 17/10/16
Today we drew the life model again. Like the times before, it was about making sure the perspective was right and that the body was not out of shape. For most of the pieces they tuned out rather well, especially my piece with the model lying down on a table. I did not include much detail as I wanted to focus mainly on the bodies shape and length, which I feel was well done. For the others, like the one where the model is lying down with her body slighting turned to the left of the paper, I feel they could be improved, as this ones head is just too big for the body. I do like it though, as it has that detail, and you can clearly see with this one where I have drawn out the plan of the body. Apart from this though, really good week and I feel that have learnt something new on how to draw a body correctly.
Last weeks homework was rather fun to do as well. We were tasked with drawing objects which we felt resembled us and our personalities. I chose to draw my favourite books, games, CD'S, a bottle of cider, and my art equipment using different media. For some I drew using chalk, others I used pencil, and for the rest I decided to use different fine line pens.
week 5 24/10/16
Today was an extremely fun and messy session. We leant and used this technique where we cover a sheet of paper with charcoal and then draw back into it using a putty rubber. The reason did this was to look at tonal drawings, and to capture the light areas, dim areas, and very dark areas. I personally think that this has been my best week so far, with my work looking bold and much more realistic compared to the rest of the work I have been doing. A couple of them could of been done better, but the rest I was really happy with. Although I was covered in charcoal, it was very fun to do.

week 7 7/11/16
For this week I forgot my paints, so instead of using paints to capture the life model, I used coloured charcoal instead. Before we used colour, we were told to do some warm up drawings first. For these I used my hb pencil and really shaded into the piece and captured the light and dark areas. We then moved onto colour. These weren't used to make the model look realistic though. They were used to capture the different tones of the model using three colours. One example being green for dark areas, yellow for light areas, and white as the background. They weren't my best pieces and all of them could of certainly done with a thicker colour to make them stand out.
week 8 14/11/16
Today I finally got to use some colour in my work using very wet acrylic paints. The pieces turned out really well, even if they didn't all look proportionally right. My favourite one has to be the red white and black piece, where the model is lying down on the yoga mat, although in the painting it looks more like a horrific crime scene. The reason I like it though I the colours are capturing and really work well together. Even if I do like my other pieces, such as the green, yellow, blue and white one, it just doesn't have the same affect as the red, black, and white one. For improvement, perhaps I could of tried much more shocking colours tat are vibrant. All in all, I really enjoyed his task!
